GEOC 20th Anniversary Symposium on Sustainable Development Goals and Local Partnerships: GEOC and Future Partnerships

UNU-IAS, the Ministry of the Environment of Japan, and the Global Environmental Outreach Centre (GEOC) will organize the GEOC 20th Anniversary Symposium on Sustainable Development Goals and Local Partnerships: GEOC and Future Partnerships on 12 October 2016.

In September 2015, UN Member States adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Implementing the agenda’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) now calls for action at national and local levels. As stated in Goal 17, promotion of partnerships is essential to achieving the SDGs. This symposium aims to promote multi-stakeholder partnerships to achieve the SDGs, with experts and practitioners discussing how to implement the SDGs at the local level in Japan. Participants will share local practices from different areas in Japan, which could contribute to realizing the SDGs.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, GEOC has been organizing a series of talks from November 2015.
