The high-level political forum on sustainable development in 2020 will be held from 7 to 16 July 2020. The forum serves as the United Nations central platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals. The theme for 2020 is "Accelerated action and transformative pathways: realizing the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development.” In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all meetings will be held virtually, including all side and special events.

Also, UNU-IAS experts will participate in the forum, and the institute is organising three side events to advance discussions on education for sustainable development, biodiversity, and decarbonisation.
