Overview
In 1999, Ikeda City established the “Volunteering Promotion Office”, and in November of the same year inaugurated the “Ikeda Volunteer Citizens Conference”. The following year, “Recommendations concerning the facilitation of citizen action for public benefit” were submitted to the mayor. This is the background behind the founding of the Ikeda City Public-Benefit Action Promotion Council. In 2001, an ordinance was enacted concerning Ikeda City’s public-benefit action promotion, and the Ikeda NPO Center was inaugurated. The Ikeda City Public-Benefit Action Promotion Council is involved in the Center’s management, the issuance of public relations magazines, personnel training projects, etc., as an intermediary support organization.
As of February 2012, there are 74 groups registered, and approximately 151 other groups were considering registering.
