 地球環境パートナーシッププラザ(GEIC)では、1998年度より、地球規模の環境問題に取り組む次世代のリーダー育成を目的とする研修プログラムを開催してきました。
 これらの活動の一環として、GEICでは7月23~27日の5日間にわたり、LEAD(環境と開発のためのリーダーシップ)ジャパン・プログラムと共同でトレーニングを開催します。

 LEADは、環境保全と経済発展の調和の実践に取り組むリーダー育成と人的ネットワーク形成を目的として活動を行う国際プログラムで、民間企業、政府、地方自治体、学術界、メディア、NGOなどで活躍するミッドキャリアの社会人を対象に研修を実施しています。今回の研修は、LEADジャパン・プログラムの研修プログラムの一環として行うもので、研修は、LEADジャパン研修生を交えて行われます。

 プログラムは、
1)地球規模、又、地域レベルでの環境ガバナンスについて講義、
2)グループディスカッションと発表、
3)遺伝子組換え作物など「バイオセーフティー」の問題をテーマにしたシミュレーションゲーム
から構成されます(詳細なプログラムは、http://www.unu.edu/env/leadership/ にてご覧いただけます)。尚、研修中、講義やディスカッション、発表等はすべて英語で行われます。

地球規模のみならず、地域レベルの環境問題に関心を持ち、将来この分野での活躍を希望する学生の方20名を募集します(応募締切:7月10日(火))。 応募方法等詳細については、以下をご参照下さい。

Environmental Leadership Training Programme on "Global Environmental
Governance"

General information:

The Global Environment Information Centre (GEIC) has been organizing
training programs since 1998 to foster future youth leaders to tackle the
myriad of global environmental problems society faces today. As a part of
this incentive, GEIC and LEAD Japan (Leadership for Environment and
Development) will be jointly organizing a training session during the period
of 23-27 July.

LEAD is an international program which aims to foster leadership and
networking amongst mid career professionals from various sectors (i.e.
private sector, national and city governments, researchers, media and NGOs)
working in related fields of Environment and Development. This year's
program will be held as a part of LEAD Japan's training program, whereby
LEAD fellows will also participate along with the University students to be
selected for this event.

The training programme will be divided into the following sections: (1)
Lectures on global and local environmental governance (2) Group discussions
and presentations (3) Simulation exercise on the theme of Biosafety

be held in English.

We are currently recruiting 20 students interested in global and local level
environmental issues to participate in this program. The deadline for
submission of applications is Wednesday, 10 July. The details of the
application procedure are as follows:

Participation fee: Free of charge
Number of Participants: 20 persons (in case interviews may become necessary
for final selection, telephone interviews will be conducted.) Final results
will be notified by Friday, 13 July.
