Join an Online Campaign for International Day for Biological Diversity 2020

生物多様性2020

GEOC encourages participation in an online campaign to mark International Day for Biological Diversity 2020, which launches on 22 May 2020. People and organisations are encouraged to use the hashtags “#Biodiversity2020”(English) and “#生物多様性2020” (Japanese) to promote biodiversity as part of the campaign.

This year’s online campaign will be promoted through a newly opened page on the GEOC website. The website provides the latest information on biodiversity issues in both English and Japanese. It also calls for people and parties from diverse backgrounds to participate in actions to promote biodiversity. The campaign will run from 22 May 2020 to the date of the next UN Biodiversity Conference (15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the CBD), which has not yet been confirmed.

GEOC has been participating in this initiative by co-organising a symposium with MOEJ and UNU-IAS at UNU, to commemorate IDB every year. Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year GEOC and UNU-IAS will be launching a Biodiversity Online Campaign instead of a physical event.

The International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB), has been proclaimed by the United Nations to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. The theme for IDB 2020 is “Our solutions are in nature”
