Living Planet Report 2014: Latest Message from WWF International

On 21 January 2015, UNU-IAS will organize the seminar Living Planet Report 2014: Latest Message from WWF International, jointly with WWF Japan and the University of Tokyo’s Graduate Program in Sustainability Science – Global Leadership Initiative (GPSS-GLI).

Issued annually by WWF International, the Living Planet Report is the world’s leading, science-based analysis on the health of our planet and the impact of human activity on it. This event will welcome Acting Executive Director of Conservation at WWF International Mr. Janos Pasztor, as a guest speaker. Mr. Pasztor will present on the contents of the latest Living Planet Report (2014), focusing on the issue of climate change. After his speech, Dr. Ram Avtar (UNU-IAS) will provide brief comments on the presentation, followed by a Q&A and discussion session.

Speaker
Mr. Janos Pasztor is currently the Acting Executive Director of Conservation at WWF International, the world’s largest conservation organization. During his career of over 30 years, Mr. Pasztor has worked for various United Nations organizations as well as non-governmental organizations including the secretariat of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED, or the “Earth Summit ‘92”). He has focused on issues of energy and environment, and over time increasingly on climate change and sustainable development.
