A project Supported by Ministry of the Environment

Cleaning up and disposing of debris is a big hurdle in rebuilding the Tohoku area. By seeing real Tohoku debris, we are reminded first hand of the difficulty in rebuilding the affected regions and properly disposing of a huge amount of lost materials – that used to be roads, buildings, people’s homes and possessions.

In the hopes of putting smiles on children’s faces, flower arrangement specialist Hiroki Maeno established the “Make Japan happy with blooming flowers” project. Hiroki Maeno made the earthquake debris and Flowers installation displays named “The tower of hope” and “Full of flowers basket” that can now be seen in the GEOC multi-purpose space from 1 May to 30 June, 2012.
